Description of work
A short-term commission from the Exploratorium in response to their new site at piers 15 & 17 on San Francisco’s Embarcadero.
Considering the constant wave motion below, I invented these rigs of mirrors on stalks that articulate the water’s continual movement. The building’s awning provides a constantly shaded surface to act as a screen for the wildly oscillating spots of sunlight off the 730 mirrors. The kinetic nature of this work is best appreciated with the video link below.
Reclaimed wood, steel, glass, stainless steel.
